Opera North presents

THIS PERFORMANCE TOOK PLACE IN 2007 To mark the 400th anniversary of the invention of opera, cult puppetry company Faulty Optic and contemporary composer Mira Calix re-invent the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice in a visual and sonic 21st century feast. Following the tragic death of Eurydice on her wedding day, and Orpheus’ ensuing journey to bring her back from the Land of the Dead, the action picks up where the ancient myth ends blending an exciting mix of puppets, film, laptop, live musicians and strangely distorted voices. Faulty Optic and Mira Calix commissioned by Manchester International Festival and Opera North Projects.
