It’s never easy to get a foothold on the arts administration career ladder, but in 2013-14, thanks to external funding through the University's Careers & Employability department, we were able to introduce a brand new programme which has already enabled 4 University of Nottingham graduates to kick-start their arts careers. Claudia Ferlisi has gone on to a professional career in arts marketing working for New Perspectives Theatre. Tom Barnes does part-time Marketing at Nottingham Contemporary, and is undertaking a second national tour with his theatre company 2Magpies. Nick Stevenson is Assistant Producer at Theatr Clwyd and Ellie Cawthorne is working with BBC Radio 4.
We've just appointed Alice Roberts into a brand new role as Music Intern and she'll begin at the end of September 2016. Working closely with our Head of Music Programming Catherine Hocking, Alice will have an intensive 40-week experience of music administration supporting the professional visiting concert programme, as well as assisting with the training of our 4 Music Placements (Undergraduates) who support the University Philharmonia and Choir activities.
There is currently a vacancy for a 2016-17 Marketing Internship too; closing date is 9 September. For information visit our recruitment page.
We’d like to continue and to extend this programme to benefit even more University of Nottingham Graduates with the creation of Galleries Learning, Museum Learning and Music Programming Internships in future. To support one of these full-time internships costs £15,000 per annum. If you would like to help us do this, and to provide an effective platform from which these future arts administrators can launch a successful career, please contact email@example.com or phone 0115 8467123.
