Our most recent Teachers' Consultation Event was on Thursday 17th November 2011 with 22 attendees.

Teachers were invited to explore, with Lakeside and University staff, four themes in distinctive new spaces that had just opened as part of a major new refurbishment scheme. This was followed by a question and answer session led by Julian Tomlin, Deputy Director.

1.   Drama - Rachel Feneley, Learning Officer (Drama & Dance) in The Angear Visitor Centre now with a new display wall designated Gallery 3.

2.    The Lowry Exhibition - Ruth Lewis-Jones, Learning Officer (Galleries) in Galleries 1 and 1a (the original galleries ) and Gallery 2 (the new gallery space).

3.    The Archives Handling Box from Manuscripts and Special Collections - Caroline Kelly, Curator and Caroline Kelly, Team Leader, Manuscripts and Special Collections, conducted in the new Learning Studio.

4.    The new Museum of Archaeology - Clare Pickersgill, Museum Curator. In Clare’s absence her place was taken by Julian Tomlin in the new museum location right next to the Djanogly Art Gallery.

There was a very positive response to the event. Those completing evaluation forms 70% felt it very worthwhile while 70% expected to bring a group to Lakeside in the coming year.

What teachers liked best about the event:

‘Informal, friendly way, able to explore, discuss and learn about what you offer’
‘each of the areas were inspiring and creative’
‘really liked the outdoor resources’
