Wheee! Family Weekend in the Park 2011

I just wanted to say how much my family have enjoyed the family acitvities at Lakeside today. Our children 3 and 5 loved making the dream catchers, fliying fish and flying creatures. The staff and student helpers were really friendly and patient with our children and could not have been more helpful. It was obvious that a lot of preperation had gone in to all the activities as there was more than enough materials. . The Circle of Two was an excellent piece of theatre and we also enjoyed the stuntman. We didn't have time to do everything the drumming workshop and the cardboard sculpture looked fantastic also. Many many thanks for all your hard work and effort.

Scamp Theatre & Poonamallee Present
Private Peaceful

Having enjoyed a wonderfully emotional evening enjoying the performance of Private Peaceful. I wanted to say I thought the young actor who played Private Tommo was fabulous. His performance was outstanding and my son and I were left both trying to hide the odd tear or two. Would there be any chance you could send this message of thanks to Mark Quartley and thank him so much for creating a wonderful Dad n Lads evening.

Travelling Light & Polka Theatre Present
Lost and Found

My two children (nearly 3 and 5 1/2) and I have been to see 'Lost and Found' today. We all really enjoyed it, the children so much that they said they couldn't pick out a favourite bit, it was all so good. I would like to congratulate you on your pricing for childrens' theatre too, as too often I do not take them to see plays etc. because the cost is too high. I would like to thank you too for the workshop afterwards, the children and I loved this too. The lady running [Drama and Dance Learning Officer - Rachel Feneley] it was very welcoming and encouraging and got the children to make plenty of puppets to be able to make up a story to show me with her help. It was one of the most wonderful things that I have seen the children do. They enjoyed it so much we are planning lots of shadow puppet plays to do at home. Thank you.

Lakeside in Association with Engine House Presents
Oleanna

Hi I have just come back from seeing Oleanna and I had to write to say how much I enjoyed it. The writing - brilliant, the direction clever, the acting - stunning. It was a real treat; a masterpiece of tension, surprise, intrigue, liquidity, accuracy, contradiction and was very very stylish. For me a 'three whoop' play! Thank you, the best play I've seen in a long time. Amanda Smith

New Perspectives present
Dolly

"It’s been years since I’ve seen a theatre production, and for me this was a nudge-gamble of a night out, but Dolly was simply a joyous performance. From start to finish I couldn’t stop smiling. Except of course, when Dolly died. Now that was sad! Congratulations to the writer and multi-tasking cast, performers and puppeteer. A gem of a play. I’d go se it again for sure." Peter Saunders

“The Lakeside Arts Centre is a wonderful venue and is always very welcoming. It has a very intimate feel to it and you have always tried to present a wide and varied range of artists and work.  Keep it up.

Lakeside is one of my very favourite venues with, its location, its welcome, its variety, its charm and its sometimes challenging and provocative presentations.”

"The most amazing performance I have seen for a long time. This reality was spectacular. To say I enjoyed it is not quite the right expression, a difficult emotion to express. Absolutely fantastic."

PILOT THEATRE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH YORK THEATRE ROYAL AND UNICORN THEATRE PRESENTS
Looking for JJ
Thursday 28 February - Saturday 1 March 2008

"We had a wonderful experience at Lakeside Arts centre when we saw Looking for JJ. Some students had not been to a theatre before and some had only seen pantomime. We had some lovely discussions and questions."

"It was good how they used the bed and the chairs to be different things and different places 'specially when the bed was that tunnel."

"The play ended slightly differently to the book and this set them off thinking that what they had seen and read was only a part of JJ’s  life. They discussed what else might happen to her and wondered about writing a sequel."

"From being a very quiet group they have developed into a lively bunch, eager to talk and give their opinions. They are eager to repeat the experience."
