In-House Productions at Lakeside

Lakeside has been a producing house since 2003. Over the last four year’s we have made a name for ourselves producing high quality and diverse theatre.

The first in-house production staged at Lakeside was Samuel Beckett’s Krapp's Last Tape starring Kenneth Alan Taylor in 2003. We remounted the production in 2006 to celebrate the centenary of Beckett’s birth- which went on to tour nationally and internationally. In 2004 we staged Jimmy Chin’s unusual and poignant comedy A Different Way Home which was performed in rep with A Visit from Miss Prothero by Alan Bennett- a poignant observation of human drama. David Halliwell’s A Who’s Who of Flapland- an unusual black comedy set in a self-service café, was staged in 2005 and 2006 saw the premiere of screenwriter William Ivory’s debut stage play The Retirement of Tom Stevens. Our latest in-house production, performed in March 2007 saw the premiere of Glyn Cannon’s The Kiss- A witty dark drama which explored the struggle between safety and spontaneity, passion and greed. All of our in-house productions have been directed by Matt Aston- Theatre Programmer and Producer at Lakeside.
