Lakeside Arts

Access for all

Lakeside aims to be accessible to people with a disability.

In our buildings there is level access with lifts where there is an upper floor, and separate accessible toilets.

There are designated car parking spaces located close to Lakeside’s venues. If you are visiting the Djanogly Art Gallery or Recital Hall enter University Park from the South entrance on University Boulevard, turn right into Science Road, and then first right again.

For the Djanogly Theatre or other venues in the D H Lawrence Pavilion there are 2 spaces in the main Lakeside car park, and an additional 9 spaces next to the lake – these can be accessed by driving past the main Lakeside car park (to your left), around past the gatehouse, first left off East Drive along the north approach to the D H Lawrence Pavilion.

Wheelchair spaces
There are wheelchair spaces in the auditoria of the Djanogly Recital Hall and Djanogly Theatre; where possible please book wheelchair spaces in advance.

Hearing Support and Audio Descriptions
There is a Sennheiser Infrared enhanced hearing system in the Djanogly Theatre and Performing Arts Workshop Space; where possible please book headsets in advance and there are induction loops in the Djanogly Art Gallery Welcome Desk, Djanogly Recital Hall, Djanogly Theatre, Box Office, and the Gallery and Pavillion Cafes.

Some productions are audio described and on occasion the audience is invited to meet the cast before the show. For those with a visual impairment a touch tour of the props and actors to get a sense of the costumes and characters can help provide a stronger sense of the storyline.

Assistance dogs are welcome in all areas.
